The Nest

Well it’s been a busy few months for promoters in London, with XOYO and Arcadia already having opened their doors,  promising to be an alternative to the mainstream and a haven for underground music, and now yet another new venue casts open its doors this weekend.

Set in trendy Dalston, the Nest has some serious pedigree behind it. Headed up by Fabric founder Steve Ball, and Riz Shaikh, who run’s some of the capitals leading late nights pubs including Islington’s Old Queens Head and Paradise by way of Kensal Green, it’s safe to say that these guys know a thing or two about what makes a successful venue. The ethos behind the Nest is about ‘embracing the new rather than holding on the old’, and it’s promising to present the best in cutting edge and forward thinking artists.

The Nest will embrace Dalston’s fantastic creative scene, (it’s the new Shoreditch, don’t you know) boasting an eclectic and diverse   array   of   events   showcasing  and   supporting  the best   in   live   music,   art   and fashion,   whilst   also   introducing   worldwide   new   talent   into   an   area   which   has   fast become London’s hottest night spot.  What’s the more the team are planning on giving something back to the area, buy Nurturing and supporting new talent through The Nest Award – a mentor scheme and monthly cash bursary of up to £1,500 awarded to a deserving creative project.

If the launch weekend is anything to go on we’re hoping for big things from the Nest. The space has been designed to have a dark and industrial feel using exposed concrete and neon lights, complete with cubby holes and caged alcoves. The perfect place to enjoy The Juan Maclean,  hotly   tipped   Australian duo Flight Facilities, Dalston’s very own  The C90’s and live sets from rising stars Fiction and Phantom, all appearing next weekend.
