2012 is Futureboogie’s 10th year in the land of the club. What originally started as a simple club night in good old Bristol town back in 2001, Futureboogie nows rolls with global radio shows, a booking agency, management company, a list of A-grade parties and worldwide DJ bookings as long as a long armed man, excursions into festival programming and, most recently their record label, Futureboogie Recordings.

Over the last 10 years the cast of the Futureboogie team has changed but original members and FUTUREBOOGIE DJs Joe90 and El Harvo are still holding things down, keeping all the plates spinning, and making things go bump in the night. They host the exclusive 10 year anniversary bash in the capital alongside an array of the very best talent the label has to offer.

Recent Essential Mix spinning wise-beyond-his-years Bristol house producer and DJ Mag nominated breakthrough DJ of the year JULIO BASHMORE fronts an all-star cast, which also features Hot Creations tag-team of the moment Amos Nelson and Rich Beanland aka WAIFS AND STRAYS, alongside fellow Bristol house producing duo CHRISTOPHE & LUKAS and rising stars BEHLING & SIMPSON. Expect the very finest in house and disco all night long, in one of East London’s most exciting warehouses. We’re 10 years young – and it’s our party so we’ll cry if we want to! We hope you can join us for what promises to be a very special night in the capital.

February also sees the release of Futureboogie Recordings CD compilation. Aptly titled ‘Ten’ it will include 10 exclusive tracks from some of the label’s finest, and a nod to some of the label’s future finest, with cuts from the likes of Eats Everything, Lukas, Julio Bashmore, Waifs and Strays, Type Sun, Christophe and Crackazat. And because we are so good to you, the first 50 tickets sold will be bagging themselves a free copy of it on arrival at the party. Niceness!

    Love Team Futureboogie x

“If you only attend one gig this month make it this…” DJ Magazine, Feb, 2012

The first Noise of Art event of 2012 invites New York’s Phenomenal Handclap Band to play the Psychedelic Curiosity Show.

The London show marking the release of Phenomenal Handclap Band’s new LP (Form & Control), sees New York’s purveyors of psych, soul, and cosmic disco enter Noise of Art’s psychedelic steam punk world. The night also see cosmic house and disco maestro Leo Zero spin a special psychedelic set alongside Noise of Art’s DJ Ben Osborne and more to be announced.

The happening has already been made editor’s choice by Flavourpill, recommended by Time Out and is going to be made gig of the month by DJ mag.

Phenomenal Handclap Band broke through with their US and European club hit ‘15 To 20’. Their sound has roots in New York, San Francisco, San Paulo and London. Imagine Curtis Mayfield and Deee-Lite throwing a Nu-Yorican party with Afro-beat, Cosmic Italo-disco, Turkish psych and ‘70s West Coast music spinning on the decks. Kaleidoscopic grooves doesn’t begin to describe their live sound.

On the 45th anniversary of the UK’s Psychedelic movement, Noise of Art’s new show is inspired by contemporary steam punk and the 19th Century imagery that inexplicably became prevalent in the late Sixties. It imagines that Sergeant Pepper, Pink Floyd and The Avengers were the result of two universes colliding in 1967; throwing people from a parallel steam punk world into swinging London.

The resulting psychedelic Victoriana features coal-fired flower power, contemporary dancers, curiosities of nature, magic lanterns of psychedelic imagery, steam-powered cosmic house, psyched-out-disco and coal-fired techno.

After selling out their Halloween bash last year, Soltek return at the end of February to dust away those winter blues and kick off the new year in style with a typically exciting and diverse lineup. Topping the bill in exemplary fashion Soltek have opted for Tighten Up head honcho and DirtyBird Records favourite, the man behind 2011’s massive single “Falsehood”, A1 Bassline. He’ll be joined by Bristolian bass cadet and arguably one of electronic music’s most innovative and flourishing labels, Hotflush Recordings’ very own Arkist. Support will come from residents Daffadam and Medlam in the form of a rare back to back set alongside fellow regular Jdan, with the bill being rounded up by special guest Jarvey.

    Gaiser presents VOID
    No Sudden Movements
available as MINUS115 in following formats … CD, WAV, MP3

This event with Jon Gaiser will be closing party for Matthew Hawtin’s solo art exhibition which takes place at the Red Gallery London from Thursday 2nd February 2012.

Perhaps better known for the explosive techno of his recent Minus releases, Jon Gaiser turns his attention to exploring inner dimensions through his new VOID guise.

Stepping away from the dancefloor to present the debut Void album ‘No Sudden Movements’, the new project finds Gaiser in a mode unfamiliar to those who’ve come to know him as the manufacturer of incendiary EPs such as Some Slip and Unstable Witness. The LP traverses ambient soundscapes and downtempo rhythms, seeking warmth from a sparser, gentler sound as the cold European winter of Gaiser’s adopted hometown Berlin approaches, whilst still remaining committed to the perfection & attention to production detail that has characterized his work as one of the most accomplished & distinctive electronic music producers working today.

Can you explain how and when the Void project same together?

Jon Gaiser: I’ve been working on the Void project on and off for about 2 years now. A lot of the ideas and feeling behind this project come from experimentation with sounds and production process and also the urge to create something that is easy to listen to, while at the same time having hidden complexity. A lot of the material was recorded during the dark, colder months in Berlin, when it was most inspiring to create something that was bleak by nature and sparse by composition, but using warm sounds to off-balance and provide an escape. That is also the reason why I think this album is perfect for the colder months.

How does the approach to Void differ from how you work on your more dancefloor-focused productions?

Jon Gaiser: When I’m in the studio, most ideas technically begin the in the same way… with experimentation of different sounds. It is depending on the feeling and atmosphere of the sound that I start with that will guide the rest of the production to bring it to the final outcome. It’s all directly connected to my mood that I have at that moment. Whatever mood I’m in will direct to me hear the things that should be there, or not be there, and what should happen next. If I’m feeling slow and relaxed I usually won’t end up with a techno track at the end of the day.

Jon Gaiser: The most difficult aspect of performing the Void material live is that the tempos are all over the place. It’s not like doing a normal live set with material that has similar tempos and can be integrated and mixed easily. Performing this way is more like telling a story then it is just developing a continuous mix of ups and downs. There will be some moments of atmosphere, some moments of melody, and some moments where it all comes together.

in February we have the pleasure of presenting Special set of: Gescu b2b Piticu (Sunrise) and Mihai Amatti b2b Alex Baciu (SoundCrossing Rec.) who bring us their new releases in Soundcrossing Recrods: “Silence EP “….. can´t miss!

    GESCU (Sunrise)

Is one of the relatively new arrivals in the local electronic set, enlisted in the Sunrise Booking Agency at the end of 2007. Since then, most of the notable clubs in Bucharest had him as a guest and he mixed among all the mates in the ‘family’, from Kozo to El Cezere and Praslea to Dan Andrei.

He scored Valentino Kanzyani , [a:rpia:r], Tania Vulcano and Cassy as a warm-up guest and after Sunwaves 7, where he was spotted at the deck on Sunday, Gescu played it tough and on the 15th of May, he was spinning at Arma 17, in Moscow, in the opening of Marco Carola and Loco Dice.

What he plays at home explains his clubbing pathway, Ricardo Villalobos, Thomas Melchior, Baby Ford, Zip and [a:rpia:r] being listed as favorites. Currently he’s working on a release, soon to be announced on the agency’s site. With a good start and an ascending range, Gescu promises, no doubt.

    PITICU ( Sunrise)

Born and raised in the beautiful Bucharest, he comes to the dj booth with an individual way of phrasing the sounds of minimal, house and techno. In 1999 takes the decision to get involved in the scene and he stays low as a bedroom dj.Truly skilled and with a trained ear, he comes into the light as piticu that we all know today.
His receptivity to knowledge got him to the point where he is dedicating time to compose and to produce his own music. Soon we will be able to obtain the releases and to enjoy them as he would be next to us playing.
Once out of the bedroom, the wings opened and he joined Sunrise team.

    MIHAI AMATTI (SoundCrossing Records)

Mihai Ionescu was born in Buzau, on May 29, 1977. Later, Mihai Ionescu becomes Mihai Amatti replacing his family name with another one with historical and musical significance, after Andreea Amati the Italian who invented the violin with four strings. Living in a family passionate about music, Mihai received the music with open arms through his father, rock music being the genre where he found himself in the adolescence, a genre that has remained dear to the present.

He surprises his listeners with old musical genres alternating with new fragments, from ecstasy state of mind to deep one’s, bringing in his mixes the old school spirit and some sophistication.

In a special way Mihai is inspired by the mountains, and the person who influenced the most is his father whom he greatly appreciates.

    ALEX BACIU (SoundCrossing Records)

Is a likely young dj for the sounds of minimal-tech-house, newcomer ALEX from Bacau, Romania has quickly made a name for himself with his music. Take a listen to him, and you’ll find that his original hometown has obviously had a great effect on his sound. Taking the hypnotic qualities of techno and adding the swing of classic house. Alex fell in love with electronic music in the lately ’90s whilst clubbing at Zebra (Bacau) and Session (Bucharest) party’s, and it was his experiences there that convinced him to start his own career as dj. “I fell in love with house music , hearing Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia and Raresh” says Alex. Stepping behind the decks and into the studios was a natural progression for one so dedicated to the cause, and success will swiftly follow. ..

    Dear Fellow Unleashers,

As always we will have Funktion One Sound, and with a limited capacity, we would recommend you buy tickets online to avoid disappointment. As with all of our previous events, we expect this to sell out ahead of time.

    TRICKSKI:

The Berlin based duo hold a special place in the electronic music world – since the launch of their career they have become one of the most respected artists with an astounding 32,000+ followers on Soundcloud, which resulted in them being voted as the 6th most influential user on Soundcloud in 2011. Fans returning home with a new Trickski record habitually tear their heart in front of their shelves: Where is this one going? Techno? Yes. House? Definitely. Disco? Edits? Sure. Deep Slow Motion? Well, yeah! Hip Hop? Certainly. And Melodies? And Banging? And Deep? Okay, works for them. And still there is a clear trade mark sound that is just what makes Trickski so singular. When Trickski recently performed at their label night at Watergate in Berlin, it was the longest ever queue recorded at the venue – so this is not one to be missed!

    LE LOUP:

Leonard Perret aka Le Loup may still only be in his early 20s but there is plenty to prove that he’s a frontrunner in the current crop of young Parisian talent sweeping the globe. With his warm, funk inspired, groove-led productions with shades of Detroit techno and jazz plus his love of hip-hop and years exploring all facets of house music during his degree in sound engineering, it’s no surprise he was a natural fit for Wolf + Lamb, releasing his first record on the imprint age 21. His soul-melting yet playful house sound has garnered support along the way from Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, Matthew Dear and Jay Haze among others. Having produced alongside the mighty Soul Clap, Nicolas Jaar and dOP, Le Loup has also played in clubs ranging from DC10 in Ibiza to Club De Visionaere in Berlin.

Expect some surprises on the night, including a set from one of the Unleashers!

    See you all there!

On Saturday 25th February 2012 a very special Poker Flat showcase is to happen in London for the very first time. It will feature a carefully curated selection of label associates old and new, and the bespoke venue is to be a secret warehouse space where joining label boss Steve Bug, will be Ovum chief Josh Wink and 2011 star M A N I K, as well as Martin Landsky, Daniel Dexter and Burnski, plus more to be confirmed.

Poker Flat is the deep house and tech label run by DJ, producer and A&R maestro Steve Bug since 1999. Amongst its illustrious back catalogue are genre defining hits like ‘Loverboy’ and ’1000 Miles’, peerless compilations by the likes of Argy and Märtini Brös, full lengths from the boss himself plus the likes of Trentemoller and Donnacha Costello and as well as the usual string of excellent 12” and EP releases from established names and new young blood alike. The label is a pillar of the modern scene and so a showcase such as this in the English capital is long overdue…

Josh Wink, boss of Ovum Records, tops the bill behind Steve Bug and needs little hype given his countless acid, techno and house hits over the past few decades. One of the stars he’s discovered himself in recent times is M A N I K. This NYC virtuoso has a great musicality running through his sultry house and snaking tech releases on Poker Flat, Hot Creations and of course Ovum (for whom he also released a full length this year) whilst one of Bug’s oldest partners in crime, Martin Landsky – known for his peerless production finesse – also gets in on the action.

Another fast rising talent is Chicago house and Detroit techno derived producer, DJ and label boss Daniel Dexter, whilst Berlin based Brit Burnski has a long association with Poker Flat thanks to his deep and tidy productions for the label in recent years.

This secret warehouse venue is perfectly suited to a proper Poker Flat party of this sort – with dynamite sound, killer production and the extra attention to detail you’d expect of a label with as long and esteemed a history as this.

The show also ties in with release of the label’s latest double compilation album ‘Poker Flat Volume 9 – Gunslingers and Greenhorns’, which is due for release on Monday February 20th. Limited early bird tickets are available now from RA and look out on the night for details of the next upcoming Poker Flat showcases in London and beyond….

VERY INTIMATE SPACE meaning limited at the same time…

So come in ealry (£15 before midnight) or buy your tickets in advance :) We had quite a start in the new year with a mesmerizing party with the Romanian master Pedro delivering a superb back to back set with his protege Praslea and our resident Nikos landing a hands-in-the-air 4.5 hour set in a completely rammed warehouse space.

Our new light installation was perceived with enthusiasm and we are currently tweaking it a bit to match our future needs. Here, take a peak:

We put a lot of effort into Krush so it’s always appreciated when we receive good reviews such as that one:

First up on this month’s menu is the ballsy electronic music enthusiast from Detroit, Omar S.
With an original macho attitude (we mean that with the most positive meaning of the term) and inimitable styling Omar S has kept the lantern lit for all those kids who still leave and breathe the underground.
His releases his music almost exclusively on his own label FHXE and he rarely shares his talent ’cause he’s able to manage really well on his own.
Back in 2009 he made a mix tape for Fabric and it proved to be one of the most coveted gems in the clubs collection.
He is house-y, he is techno-y, but importantly he is Detroit-y…and he’s real good at it!
    ‘Nough said!

Next up, we have our resident Nikos hot on the heels of January’s performance working round the clock, preparing a more hardware based set. He’s been around one too many years to know very well what he’s doing, so expect something that’ll cause a sway and a quiver!

The line up of the night would have been incomplete without the Irish wonder and most loved lady in town who hosts The Plate radio show on Ireland’s leading media broadcaster RTE and has graced with her presence leading names of the industry such as Jamie Jones, Radioslave, Martin Buttrich, Reboot to name but a few

With London having never played host to a full Workshop lineup, the three brands coaxed a four-way powerhouse in the shape of Kassem Mosse, Lowtec, Even Tuell with a very special appearence from Move D.

Workshop has grown into something of a cult label, forming out of label-head Jens Lowtec’s ear for dark, brooding house and techno, and with a sensibility not too disimilar from the deep, analogue noir found in their peers such as Modern Love, NonPlus and Blackest Ever Black.

Move D went on something of a hiatus after contributing to the 2nd and 4th Workshop releases back in 2007/08, but last year saw him come storming back with a three track EP for the label that simmered with positivity, notably the slo-mo B2 which gave a nod to Nightmare On Wax in it’s lazy disco vibe.

It goes without saying that Kassem Mosse is a renound innovator and experimentor, materialising in his eponyous live sets which contain more improvised jams than they do actual released material. The 12th Workshop release last year could easily claim to be it’s finest, with Mosse dragging out a druggy spoken-word refrain across 13 minutes of Berghain bothering techno.

Label-head Lowtec started out releasing on Out To Lunch and Playhouse before he took the jump in 2006 to start Workshop, and things have never looked better since. Thirteen releases in, he’s already formed one of the most important electronic labels of the last ten if not twenty years and compiled an unimaginably consistent body of work. Last year saw him indulge his production on two EPs for Boddica’s also-reverred NonPlus label, bringing the same stomp and sludge house to the fray and simultaneously becoming one of their strongest releasees.

Even Tuell’s three appearances come notable in the Workshop catalogue, but none so much as his solo Workshop 007 release, which harnessed the very spirit of Detroit techno infused with stylistic elements of European electro. His bass-lines are where his production shines, with huge, growling warehouse tones and often throbbing with pure groove and machine-music heritage.

Room 2 will feature some of the UKs finest new house and bass talent in the shape of Altered Natives, DjRUM, El Kid and BNRY.

Limited £12 tickets available until the day of the event.

OneMore is VERY happy to present a rare duo appearance from TIEFSCHWARZ in a London’s warehouse event… And not just any warehouse event ;)

OneMore has been growing exponentially since it’s launch over a year ago. We made sure to always find the best underground spots in the East End of London and can look back to memorable performances from superstar guests such as Timo Maas, Steve Lawler and Troy Pierce with a big smile!

Our residents also proved to be nothing short of spectacular and got people jumping sometimes even more than our superstar guests!!

So for sure this one is set to be another memorable musical journey and it will take place once again at Hearn st Car Park which is slowing growing to be our home… But in 2012 we will have plenty of surprises for you so expect to be amazed as every time so far!

TIEFSCHWARZ needs no introduction at all but it’s only fair to spare a few words to empathize their achievements… This German duo made up of the Schwarz brothers first appeared on the international scene back in 1997. The combination of their love for deep, dark house music and their own name gave naturally birth to TIEFSCHWARZ (german for “deep black”).

Since then things just got better and better with a series of releases on Derrick carter & Luke Solomon’s Classic Recordings and many of their tracks have been licensed to compilations, from the Stereo Sushi series, to compilations for Bugged Out!, Get Physical and Renaissance, and in 2006, they released a mix of their own for the Fabric (London) mix series.

Their sound is considered, at least by those who have followed them from their Classic days, to have changed somewhat over the last few years. Instead of their original deep, mellow house, Tiefschwarz now represent a gritty and edgy electro house sound, their more recent tracks gaining recognition from the likes of Ivan Smagghe, Touché, Sasha and Danny Howells.

Joining them will be our all time favourite resident DJs Antonio de Angelis, Raymundo Rodriguez and Outart so expect OneMore musical journey! And of course we’ll be kitting up the venue with plenty of surprises and our trademark VJ show by Sofine….

    Bruno Pronsato//

With his heady, intricately woven tracks and ominously funky live performances, Bruno Pronsato is one of techno’s most intriguing artists. His sound is full of contradictions: abstract but organic, sexy but drab, and though most of his records could easily stir a dance floor, they exist purely for themselves, never compromised for club potential. In music, as in life, Bruno likes to get weird, and the suspense that permeates his music often earns him the title of “minimal.” But it’s the deeply emotional moments—the warm, amber tones of tracks like “What We Wish,” “At Home I’m a Tourist” and “The Make Up The Break Up”— that point to Bruno’s true objective: as he blurted out to an Italian journalist last year, “I just want to make romantic techno.”

In 2006, Bruno moved from Seattle to Berlin to do techno full time, and it wasn’t long before he made a name for himself. His debut 12″ was released in 2003 on Orac, a Kompakt distributed label, and was followed the next year by a full-length album, Silver Cities. Soon Bruno had the attention of labels like Philpot and Musique Risquée, both of whom released Bruno’s next EP’s. By 2005, Bruno’s live performance—an unusually nimble and improvisatory act—began receiving praise from XLR8R, The Wire, and dozens of underground European zines. It also piqued the interest of Ricardo Villalobos and Perlon boss Zip, who invited Bruno to play in their laptop super-group, Narod Nikki. Around this time, Bruno formed a duo with Sammy Dee called Half Hawaii. The pair played at nightclubs around Europe and international festivals like Mutek, and released two slick minimal records on Perlon and Hello? Repeat. But Bruno’s real breakthrough came in 2007 when he released Why Can’t We Be Like Us, a strange and beautiful album that received a “5/5” from Resident Advisor and endless accolades throughout the blogosphere. This secured Bruno’s position as one of techno’s most imaginative and virtuosic artists, a reputation he easily maintained with his next two releases: the weird and sultry Where’d You Learn to Kiss That Way on Hello? Repeat, and Take 1/ Take 2, a jazz-infected house jam he did with Daze Maxim, under the name Others.

In 2009, Bruno started his own label, thesongsays. It was partly a matter of necessity; he needed an imprint for his most ambitious work yet, a 38-minute epic called The Make Up The Break Up, so he decided to simply release it himself. Possibly his best work to date, The Make Up The Break Up received a deluge of praise upon its release, including another “5/5” from Resident Advisor. Later that year, thesongsays released its second record, a debut EP called What I’ve Lost by Benoit & Sergio. Dripping with half-ironic romantic sentiment, What I’ve Lost is a daringly unfashionable EP that, perhaps even more than his own tracks, reveals Bruno for who he truly is: a post-punk inspired techno artist that loves staying up all night, sipping whiskey with his pinky crooked.

H.O.S.H. & ELON are two heavy weights of the electronic music world scene, who have gravited far from London in the last year: Select*Elect will bring them back, to take over the big LDN’s dancefloor. The date is set, the place not yet to be known, the further step on the path of quality underground dance music done. Select*Elect keeps on providing to the hungry ears of the Londoners the freshest vibes coming from the four corner of the Earth, hosting the best djs in a hidden warehouse where everything’s is secret and magic, a place where is enough to be yourself to get in, no VIP crowds, no happy few, just love for good fun and music, given you as a gift with a low entry fee.

Your ticket to ride will allow you to dance with H.O.S.H., the elder brother of the Diynamic dinasty, a musical collective from Hamburg. H.O.S.H. is totally devoted to the 4/4 legacy: “music is the only constant thing in my life” as he says. Infact he’s a 24/7 dj, promoter and producer, who honours the art of mixing by pushing it to the highest terms in front of enthusiastic crowds such as those of Watergate Berlin, Studio 80 in Amsterdam or Ego in Amburg.
H.O.S.H.’s skills are so sharpened and twirled with passion that’s there’s no surprise in listening his words: “When it comes to producing, making music for me is like cooking – the meal – track gets better the more love you put in.” And he’s loving it with all himself. Made with love to be danced, that’s the attitude that drove him to release his tracks with the best labels ever such as Kindisch, Get Physical, Supernature, Freerange, Strictly Rhythm and Tsuba. And then came the album, Connceting the Dots, released one year ago but still burning on the turntables, with its featuring with Mistress Barbara, Ost & Kjex, mingled with Moog grooves and housy basslines. When he’s not on stage H.O.S.H. Promotes and organizes The Gru_nanlage Festivals a series of electronic dance marathons held for free in northern Germany every summer. Just in case you haven’t danced enough during the year.

And if you can’t get enough, coming from Israel, flying to New York and landing in London there’s Elon, a guy fueled by a deep passion for the freshest underground techno sounds. He’s a three in a one man show: a dj, producer and nightlife visionary who strongly influenced NYC electronic music scene, since he made his first steps in the Big Apple in 2000.
Resident dj for the Resolute Collective, active member of Clink Recordings and Dumb-Unit posse, he’s landed to the turntable after sharpening his skills with musical instruments and sound engineering. Sharp eye for detail, fresh attitude, underground roots and hard work shaken all together produced a series of successful releases branded Elon: from his first EP Colombian, to his 2011 work The Time, he hasn’t missed a single target and he’s worked for the most important underground labels such as Apparel Music, Infant, Sleaze Records and Metroline.
Elon’s work is surrounded by hype, everybody says he’s rocking great. Just in this occasion, do believe the hype as this guy is real, a real pro dj and producer as Jeremy P. Caulfield and Maceo Plex aka Maetrik can confirm after having collaborating with him.

Before these two enfant terribles will set on fire Select*Elect dancefloor there will be the Phisical Education hour, a double set for warm yourself up provided by Pablo Rancat and Select*Elect resident Spielkamerad. The first landed in Hackney from Argentina with a luggage full of deep underground disco house vibes, after years spent as vocalist in an experimental band pumped with drum machines and heavy riffs. Once in London he fastly established himself as one of the most interesting djs playing at underground parties such as Exstatic Sounds and in clubs like Ministry of Sound, The End and Acquarium. The second, Spielkamerad came to London to study Music Business Management and couldn’t succeed in staying away from the nightlife, he was already enjoying in his town Berlin. So he stepped into djing and last summer he was one of the five finalists at the Mixmag + The Nest’s DJ Competition, with his tech-house flavoured with nu-disco.

Void – ‘No Sudden Movements’ … released on Minus in December 2011.

The house sounds flow courtesy of Italian guests from Go Deeva & Stardust/m2o. GD head honcho Simone Vitullo has been championing his label since 2005 releasing tracks by himself as well remixes/releases from Mark Knight & Funkagenda, Wally Lopez, Hector Couto, Coolio with regular support from luminaries Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez and Joe T Vannelli. He’ll be getting the floor grooving along with Go Deeva partner and Los Angeles based Leonardo Glovibes and with Paolo Bolognesi.
Paolo helped launch the main Italian Electronic dance station, m2o and its Stardust show, a radio show totally devoted to club music. We look forward to welcoming him along alongside the rest of their collective…

Dub Optic blend a history of dub-based music: Reggae Roots to Jungle, Drum & Bass to Dubstep – focusing on Soundsystem Culture as the pinnacle. Now one of the UK’s premier dub-based events, they’ve embarked on the festival circuit, providing music, sound, food and culture to festivals around the UK as well as the mighty Outlook Festival in Croatia… Heading the party this time around is Kromestar.

Kromestar is one of the most sort after DJ’s on the circuit. With shows and tours around the globe and guest slots on radios shows like BBC 1xtra and the world famous Rinse FM, you can be sure the highlight of your event will be when Kromestar takes to the decks. 2009 saw the release of his highly acclaimed album, ‘My Sound’ on the outstanding ‘Dubstar’ recordings, an seminal album which has received huge accolades around the world and is widely regarded as one of the greatest dubstep album ever made! Close behind this release was ‘The Other Syde’ compilation and in 2011 Kromestar released the more soulful album ‘Colourful Vibrations’ showcasing more of his varied talent. 2011 also saw the launch of his new label ‘Bass & Love’ with co-owner Jay 5ive, which continues to push amazing music. This year sees the launch of the much anticipated ‘Your Time Music’ alongside co-owners Mind and Rob Ennex. Expect a musical riot…

Gescu, Piticu, Mihai Amatti, Alex Baciu
in February we have the pleasure of presenting Special set of: Gescu b2b Piticu (Sunrise) and Mihai Amatti b2b Alex Baciu (SoundCrossing Rec.) who bring us their new releases in Soundcrossing Recrods: “Silence EP “…..

We are very excited to invite you to our next party in what is hands down one of the coolest and most initmate venues in all of London. As always we will have Funktion One Sound, and with a limited capacity, we would recommend you buy tickets online to avoid disappointment. As with all of our previous events, we expect this to sell out ahead of time.

Please check out our FB page for further details, as well as photos and videos from previous events:

    Corsica Studios - London - Price £5/8/10/12/MOTD

Phonica, Streets Of Beige and Wavey Tones finally unveil the lineup for their collaborative Workshop Records party at Corsica Studios on Saturday 25th February.

    MOTD

    About Jaded.

Do you think afterhours parties are disgusting and only for degenerates? Think again – they are the gathering place for the most devoted music lovers. The DJs relax and play the indulgent sets they’d not dare to play the night before to a crowd that already knows and appreciates it. You’ll find a playful spirit and a deeper mindset that doesn’t rely on substances, the hypnotic music is all that’s required for the high…

At Jaded, we’ve long understood this, and our motivations are to invoke a childlike feeling and see you deeply immersed in sound and swept away by the transient mood of the day. We love nothing more than to welcome new people to our subversive sect. We celebrate the avant-garde in techno and house music and in people – Jaded is a place where you are always free to be yourself, sometimes lose yourself.

Please note that as an afterhours party, Jaded is quite selective on the door with the aim of protecting an avant-garde and friendly atmosphere where everyone feels free to be themselves. Dress for underground raving, but please make an effort for us.

Ultraplay’s start to this year has been explosive! First there was the crazy NYD party, then last Sunday there was the incredible performance from Trumpet Man aka Gordon Edge, who literally ‘blew-the-roof’ – off the Cafe… Well, as if things couldn’t get any more intense, we have yet ANOTHER highly entertaining Ultraplay party for you this month… and yet we’re still only just recovering from the last one!

We’ve got not just one, but two ‘extra special’ guests, both with an extremely strong ‘electronic’ flavour in their sounds.

First up, is Berliner bad-boy – CJ Hartmann, an Ultraplay favourite. We’re extremely happy that CJ is flying over exclusively to grace the Ultraplay decks once again with his crazy mad-assed tunes. This is big news for CJ fans and Techno heads alike, as CJ’s previous slot at Ultraplay sadly had to be pulled last-minute due to a cancelled flight. As anyone who’s been lucky enough to catch one of his sets, CJ digs in the deepest, darkest places whilst mining for only the most underground of treasures that he can find, ready to deploy unexpectedly on the dance floor. If you haven’t yet experienced this ‘London-gone-all-Berlin’ cool cat… now’s your chance!

Our second spesh guest this month is super cool, globe trotting London/Tokyo DJ – Knock.
If you’ve been following the Ultraplay Podcast recently, then you will have heard Knock’s awesome, eclectic, disco-tech fueled mix. Knock, a true master of mixing quality tech house will all manner of electronic dance elements, absolutely kicked dance-floor ass in the wee early hours of ‘Lost/Holic‘ NYE warehouse party. Knock’s solid and skillful mixing, kept the the party alive and kicking right up until the end, which was around 10am. Not an easy thing to do, but one that Knock appeared to do with ease and with style!

Ultraplay resident Tech heads – Maker & Meyer , true Jedi’s of the East London ‘Sunday sound’, will be igniting this party at 2pm with their incredible set up of multiple decks, FX, controllers and digital wizardry. Definitely check them out if you haven’t already. Then Darren C will finally wind-up the proceedings to a massive high – that is of course, …until he finally presses the dreaded Ultraplay ‘Doomsday’ button!

This is going to be a very, very busy party… so get down early to ensure you don’t miss a beat!

Our next instalment is something of a celebration – 2 years of FunkyZeit!

We wanted to put together something a little special for this momentous occasion so we called on an old FunkyZeit favourite, someone who destroyed one of our earlier warehouse parties, and a DJ we have huge respect for: Panorama Bar resident and Cocoon favourite, Andre Galluzzi.

Andre has been around for a long time, he started DJing in the early nineties, by 96 he was resident at the famous Tresor club in Berlin and was fast-becoming one of the cities most beloved techno DJs. Since then he has gone on to become resident at the world famous Panorama Bar, a club in which he is famous for intoxicating 10 hour sets and back-to-backs with DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos. He is also a Cocoon resident, playing regularly at their events in Ibiza and around the world.

Joining Andre is another heavyweight DJ/producer who has released on labels such as Helo?Repeat and Desolat: Patrick Specke. Patrick is a regular at Berlin hotspots such as Club der Visionaere, Panorama Bar, and Tape, he’s also an incredibly well-respected producer and tracks like Bitchual Linestepper and Naggin’ Me (both released on Desolat) feature regularly in our sets. He doesn’t play in London often so you can expect something truly special.

To mark the occasion we’re pulling out all the stops: 2 incredible guest DJs AND an extra late license, so be prepared people, this time we’re in it for the long haul!

Duct, Locked Groove, Chairman Kato, Owen Howells. Trinomic

With spring around the corner, March’s Shades has both eyes on the not-so-distant future. Shades co-owner Duct will be launching his sublime Circles EP with a showcase DJ set, backed up by visuals from XXX, who’ll be performing throughout the night. Support comes from Belgian Hotflush signee Locked Groove, whose recent ‘Rooted’ release has us begging for more, and Chairman Kato (Pictures/Awkward Movements), whose woozy slo-mo house jams and penchant for sub-troubling bass will satisfy all your low-end needs. Further support comes from residents Owen Howells and Trinomic.Duct

When he isn’t teaching students how to make beats, Londoner Duct (aka Luke Harris) practises what he preaches. His latest EP, Circles (forthcoming Shades Of Grey), forges tightly syncopated rhythms, emotive synths and haunting vocal snatches into rich bass music that sounds at once fresh and familiar. Ably negotiating the delicate balance between the dancefloor-centric and ethereal without ever sounding the least contrived, this is the work of an incredibly talented producer; there’ll be no surprises if 2012 proves to be his year.

    Locked Groove

Bass music is often guilty of pursuing the new at all costs, eschewing its own beginnings for fear of getting trapped in a rut. So it’s refreshing when a new producer turns in work that’s  as indebted to its roots as it is forward-thinking, like Locked Groove’s recent EP, Rooted (Hotflush). Tim Van de Muetter is a musician who walks the path between past and present, nimbly appropriating elements from many dance genres along the way, then twisting and reshaping them into the music of tomorrow.
We’re certainly looking forward to what this guy’s next move is. Go check out his music here [link]

    Chairman Kato

Kato’s a bit of a mystery to us. His music is underpinned by emotionally haunting narratives that generate a twisted palette of sonic imagery. His production features huge sidechains and irregular beats that just make you want to steal his computer while he sleeps and hit the quantise button. When we heard he was playing out we didn’t know what to expect, so we dropped in to an old street bar on a cold winter’s night and noticed that this guy could drop a tune or two, sometimes three… consecutively. We’ve got every faith that Kato will bring a touch of class to our night while still making you reach for the disco ball.

    :: BEAT DIMENSION WAREHOUSE PARTY

On Friday 2nd March Beat Dimension returns for the second installment of their warehouse series, this time taking over one of East London’s most exciting new venues. Set inside an old print-works, this secret location is a post-industrial maze of hangers and hideouts: a truly awe-inspiring space and the perfect setting to showcase three forward-thinking electronic acts: KARENN (BLAWAN & PARIAH), REDSHAPE (LIVE) and OBJEKT. As we drift into spring, Beat Dimension brings to you a line-up that couldn’t possibly symbolise the freshness of the season any better.

    :: KARENN

BLAWAN & PARIAH, two of R&S Records’ finest assets, will be performing as their unified alias KARENN. The music released so far has received rave reviews: Boomkat describe their sound as somewhere between Burial and Marcel Dettmann, a “robust, Bass-heavy, swung and kicking Techno variation”. Karenn is a young beast, a mutual exploration of deep, dark sounds. Both artists have expressed a desire to keep their output fluid; a three-hour set offers an exciting opportunity to showcase their sonic direction for 2012 and beyond.

    :: REDSHAPE

Flying in from Berlin, masked man REDSHAPE performs live. His show demonstrates a true respect for the faceless history of Techno played out in dramatic phantom guise. Hard Carl Craig style beats are fused with genres such as New York and Chicago house. Ever changing and organic his live set blends distinct aspects of electronic music into one analogue sounding trip. Having released music on internationally renowned labels such as R&S, 3024, Brainfeeder and Dutch Techno imprint Delsin, Redshape’s unique Techno music has earned him global respect.

    :: OBJEKT

Despite only releasing two solo 12’s in 2011, Berlin based producer OBJEKT has establishing himself as an exciting, open-minded artist. Some were convinced his sound was the work of a more established producer, as in true faceless underground style he let his music do all the talking. Objekt’s ability to process the stuff of established genres into thrilling and unfamiliar shapes earned him a cult following and prompted Hessle Audio to sign him up for their premier release of 2012. The quality of his music, and the range and depth of his epic long-haul sets, make evident that the current hype surrounding him is not misplaced.

Three of the world’s most exciting contemporary electronic artists perform extended sets in a mind-blowing post-industrial warehouse complex. A sonic education, a glimpse into the direction bass infused sound is headed in 2012 and beyond.

What an amazing night with Alexandra and Miss I it was. These two amazing ladies went a lot above our expectations. Such a vibe all night long in our basement, smiley, beautiful people were dancing and enjoying their beats to the fullest. We are actually already looking forward to seeing them back behind the decks at Down Under.

Anyway it is time for another great night with you guys! This time we will be having one of the best DJs of world underground dance music scene RHADOO as our main guest and he will be playing a special extended set for us.

With amazing dj skills, sleek remixes and subtle productions it’s hard to say what Rhadoo does the best, simply a complete artist! He’s not only responsible for the growing appeal for house music but also for the creation of groups/labels like [a:rpia:r].

Whether alone or with the crew, Rhadoo has circled around the world the last few years, spinning for thousands of clubbers for tens of hours, which seems to be his personal habit. Hard to add his name to one certain genre because he is a well known shapeshifter, combining old with new, techno with house and everything with everything, he’s simply making you wonder what he will do next…

To start the fun our very own KEN & DAVY will open the night. Got to say these boys are on fire and their music is getting better and better and better on verge of their releases. They have been playing alongside great DJs and quality of their music getting lots of compliments and appraisal from London underground scenes finest rave kids! Recently their amazing set recorded at Down Under in infamous Fuse (Brussels) made it to Romanias and Europes top underground music website www.nightclubber.ro alongside the best DJs of the world. Proud moment for us!

For this special occasion we will be using an amazing space, which will be equipped with a MONSTER SOUND SYSTEM and as usual our CREATIVE people will be working on something SPECIAL to make things complete. It will be a NIGHT to REMEMBER for all GOOD reasons.

Very very EXCITED and looking forward to see you guys DANCING all night with big SMILES on your faces!

    A very special guest (tba)

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Alex Arnout (Dogmatic / Hot Creations)

Alex Arnout is a slow burning star with over 20 years experience behind him. Having started his DJ career in Spain, and in the humble surroundings of many a local bar, the nineties were spent learning the basic skills so often lacking in today’s break-through ‘DJs’. Eventually catching the ear of someone that mattered, Arnout began playing more familiar outposts like DC: 10 and Pin Up in Ibiza, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Circo Loco in London, for whom he has been resident for the last few years. On top of that, his finely sequenced journeys through all things house have also won him a residency at London’s definitive Sunday session, Fuse, as well as gigs at fabric.

A pure passion for 4/4 (which has been burning ever since first hearing House Sounds of Chicago albums in the mid eighties) naturally lead Alex to begin experimenting with his beloved sound in the studio. Over the course of the last decade, the fruits of said labours have been bountiful: there have been releases alongside Daz I Kue from Bugs in the Attic; with an old school friend by the name of Leiam Sullivan as Ceramix (with whom he remixed Peace Division and Low End Specialists and earned a No.1 on Pete Tong’s Essential Buzz chart with ‘Can You Dance?’) and more recently under his given name on Adam Shelton and Subb-an’s fast-rising Brum label, One Records. The track was ‘Vanishing Point’ – a prowling deep house record lapped up by the likes of Visionquest that is indicative of his analogue aesthetic overall.

Aiming simply to “make great music”, there have also been collabs with Jamie Jones and Clive Henry for the hotter-than-hot Hot Waves crew, whilst EPs for Composite and Vitalik and another collaborative effort with Clive – this time as Black to The Future – have also been confirmed and can be added to the myriad Arnout reworks included on the recent Rebel Rave compilation on Crosstown Rebels.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    Geddes (Murmur / Mulletover)

Geddes is one of the true pioneers of the London house scene. Among those ahead of the game when it came to the fragmentation of the super club and the dawn of a new warehouse era, Geddes and his mulletover party crew were integral in the rise of the underground and have helped shape the heart of its landscape and sound in the capital and beyond. When he started the now prolific mulletover events back in 2004, it was through grit and determination and an enduring love for exploring and championing the freshest talent and securing original spaces that Geddes became a figurehead in the evolution of a thriving house and techno scene.

Since then, Geddes has turned his attention to a number of creative projects including the launch of his own label, murmur and offshoot party venture nofitstate. In the three years since murmur was born, the imprint has become synonymous with the kind of homegrown talent that embodies the underground events Geddes curates. With a back catalogue of authentic deep house from a family of quality artists, it has a real community feel at its centre and continues to join the dots from innovative production to live experience.

The amalgamation of murmur and nofitstate recently came to fruition with a first compilation CD that showcases a collection of current and future productions, handpicked and mixed by Geddes along with a bonus live disc from murmur mainstay Tom Demac. Inspired to do the mix by the disposable trend in modern dance music, Geddes set out to highlight and support music that isn’t all new but undoubtedly timeless, and the conception garnered the label numerous accolades in the press during it’s release earlier this year.

Geddes embarked on his journey into production under the Rekleiner guise alongside Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito in 2006 and has subsequently been responsible for a string of remixes and solo work as well as collaborations with producers Mic Newman and Alex Jones. In the pipeline are a couple of fresh remix projects for Kolour Recordings and Leftroom, plus a new meeting of minds with Matt Tolfrey for an EP on air london. The future will also see nofitstate joining forces with another well-loved underground institution electric minds in Electric State. After the winning combination took effect in an NYE & NYD 2011 marathon, a joint party was the natural progression.

Born and raised in London, Stuart Geddes cultivated a belief and desire to inject freshness into his surroundings and succeed he did. Now having celebrated mulletover’s 7th birthday, the party has gained unrivalled success and remains at the heart of the London scene. Attracting over 2000 people to their monthly staged events in rotating secret locations and hosting their own stages at festivals such as Lovebox, Glade, Garden Festival in Croatia, transporting revellers to boats, forests, beaches, lighthouses and warehouses across the world.

With an ever-evolving creativity and ability to move with the times, not to mention the support and love from a tight community of music fans and artists alike, the omnipresence of Geddes and his contribution to underground London may endure for many years to come.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Lee Brinx (Lower East / Hot Waves)

Lee’s an eighties child and his interest in music started at a young age growing up to his parents soundtrack of Motown, Soul and Rare Groove.
As his own tastes developed, guitar based music started to become his focus, which influenced him to take up the instrument himself. A few years later his attention was diverted to electronic dance music. Within months the guitar had been shelved, and turntables were its replacement.

Over the years Lee’s musical direction has diversified, but a love of garage grooves and deep beats complimented by melodic bass lines has developed consistently to be very resonant in his sound.

Playing in local clubs he secured a residency whilst still in his teens, and after an impromptu holiday to Ibiza for the Millennium, the natural progression saw him set out with his records to hit the White Isle the following summer.
This resulted in a residency at the infamous Milk Bar and appearances at El Divino and Es Paradis. Following summers in Ibiza helped Lee to cement his musical career and has lead to appearances in the likes of Privilege, Space and The Zoo.

These seasons were fundamental in carving out a musical path for Lee, however his feet are now firmly on the ground in London. He continues to play across the Capital and is a firm fixture within the East London clubbing community. This can be confirmed by his residency for Creche, recently voted one the best club nights of 2011 by Mixmag.

Lee also runs a party in Kent, OFF KEY. Started in April 2009 as a bank holiday sunday day time affair it has been hailed as “One of the best outdoor events in the UK” by DJ Mag. The A list line ups have included the likes of Sasha, Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones.

June 2010 saw the launch of Lee’s label Lower East alongside Cozzy D & Ed Kane (www.lower-east.com). Their monthly releases have so far seen Lee’s music remixed by the likes of Uner, Nima Gorji, Robert James and WiLDKATS. With a recent release on Hot Creations off shoot, Hot Waves and a remix on Deconstruction scheduled for early 2012, the future is looking interesting for this rising London star.

2012 starts a new chapter at Toast as we start our new project Toast Underground. We will be moving into our new home The Camp Basement in Shoreditch where we will be throwing a party every 2 months with some of the Scenes best DJ’s from London & Europe. Our Undergroun…d opening party has 2 very special guests to help us kick things off… Mark Henning (Some, Cityfox) & Dan Farserelli (Luna D.E.S)

The residents will of course be in attendance with Steve Shorter & Ian Grimwood going back to back to warm things up.

    MARK HENNING

London’s Mark Henning has risen up as one of the underground’s true players – recording for a volley of acclaimed international labels. Having released his debut album on the legendary UK institute Soma Recordings in the summer of 2008 to great acclaim, he’s busy DJing and touring his Live PA all over the world (from Australia to Japan, Russia to the USA). He also holds a residency at the HOME events near Frankfurt in Germany.

Mark Henning’s sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a healthy dose of groove, funk, swing, deepness and wierdness – all the required ingredients to make people freak out and bust crazy moves on the dancefloor. He has established his artist career not just through his productions – on labels such as Soma, Frankie, Clink, Cynosure, Hypercolour, Trapez, Freude am Tanzen and Einmaleins – but also through his worldwide performances (having been booked at clubs such as Fabric, Watergate, Privilege, Bar 25, The Egg, Panorama Bar, Space, The Arches and Harry Klein to name just a few).

His tracks have been licensed to recent BUGGED OUT, FABRIC and M-NUS compilations – and as well as achieving regular airplay on radio stations worldwide. He’s a much respected producer in the scene and his records have been supported and played out regularly over the past few years by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Akufen, Steve Bug, Loco Dice and Richie Hawtin. As a remixer, he also keeps busy – having reworked tracks by artists such as Gaetano Parisio, Mr. G, Lee Jones, Tigerskin and Chris Fortier.

Born in 1977 to English and German parents, he has spent most of his life in England, though has never forgotten his German techno roots and has recently relocated to Berlin.

    DAN FARSERELLI

Wether spinning deep house, techno or minimal, Dan Farserelli’s style of hypnotising loops, stripped back drums and subby blines always shines through. A total vinyl junkie he believes in digging deep for the music he loves and plays. The past year has seen him release on Luna Records, Phobic Records aswell as gracing the turntables at locations ranging from Room 1 at Fabric to the most intimate underground warehouse spaces. He is one part of deep.end the fast rising london collective and we’re told has another project under his belt which will all be revealed into 2012.

    + SPECIAL GUEST…

    PSYCHEMAGIK

Once upon a time, deep in The Cosmic Forest, was a fabled hideaway. It whispered of masked dreams, ushered in hidden truths. Fantasy and adventure were the alchemy that fuelled the fire. With moods so vivid you could almost taste them, imagination flew into the night with wild abandon. Spirits soared. Fairies danced with transcendent delight under the light of an eternally full moon. Eventually, as is its’ nature, modernity found its’ own course and wove a path into the world as we know it.
Living and breathing the air that time forgot are two creatures of this ageless beauty. Tucked away in their remote Cosmic Forest studio, Psychemagik embody the lust of wonderment and the endless bliss that is musical treasure. Together, they encapsulate what always was and is always meant to be. Welding away by candle light, their passion for composition and seamless production is enabling a whole universe of lush, delirious, existential explosions of sound to proliferate. Come closer…. Take a peek… Be seduced by twilight… Join them in their cosmos and see the world through their eyes. Allow yourself to be drawn into their enchanted escape, the vista that will forever be lost in space.

So, you’ve experienced their kaleidoscopic, mind-altering compilation for Light Sounds – Dark Records- ‘After The Void’. Todd Terje, 2 Many Dj’s, Lexx, Faze Action and Jaz (just to name a few) all found the love too irresistible to deny.

    Rhythmatic Intimate Sessions

    3rd March 2012 // 11PM – 6:30AM

Secret East London Location (Limited capacity)

    Herodot (Sunrise / Bucharest)
    Stathis Lazarides (Rhythmatic, Cavo Paradiso)
    Wesley Razzy (Rhythmatic)
    Archie Hamilton (Rhythmatic, Moscow Records)

…. And we continue our Romanian assault with our second Romanian guest, Herodot, on the 3rd March for another intimate session in an intimate environment.

Rhythmatic Intimate Sessions is becoming a regular feature in the capital, showcasing some of the most talented artists the electronic scene has to offer.

Our last 2 events have been completely sold out and we can’t wait for this upcoming party with Herodot. Herodot is one of the new talents of the Sunrise Rooster. He started his music journey in 2004 together with his good friends El Cezere and Kozo. He developed an accurate yet dynamic style, strongly influenced by Rhythm & Sound, Cadenza, Rhadoo, Cypher Hill and Zip. In 2006 he got involved in organising parties under the brand Dot Music. Herodot has shared decks with the likes of Marco Carola, Ryan Crosson, Magda, Barem, Onur Ozer, plus many more. During the last year, he has focussed on production and the first success already came as his colleagues RPR sound included his song on their mix for Circoloco’s 10th Anniversary CD. And he’s promised he won’t stop there.

Also will be saying goodbye to one of our good friends and great artists that have been with us for some time now and has been a regular feature and synonymous with Rhythmatic. Wesley Razzy will be leaving us for Brazil, and it’s very hard to believe that after all this time together he is going – it’s going to be a very emotional day, but just another reason to come and celebrate with us at his leaving do.

Finally Herodot and Wesley Razzy will be joined by our resident Stathis Lazarides and Archie Hamilton. Remember the vibe and atmosphere at our last party with Fabio Giannelli… Not to be missed.

    Dearest Freqs & Friends,

We hope you’re all feeling the magic of 2012, it’s already proving to be an extremely special year & we couldn’t have kicked it off any better than having Superfreq at La Santanera in Playa Del Carmen for the BPM festival on January 1st.So, at the end of February, it’s going to be Superfreq’s 10th anniversary & to celebrate being 10 years old, Superfreq will be hosting “Superfreq is 10” events all around the world throughout 2012 & spreading the magic.

On Saturday the 3rd of March we will celebrate being 10 years old at our flagship event in London, at our spiritual home, Paramount, Centre Point, 103 New Oxford Street, London, WC1A 1DD from 11pm until after 7am & of course, being our anniversary, it’s going to be an extremely special evening indeed.

We’re extremely proud to announce that our very special guest DJ for the evening will be the amazing Magda.
Magda as you all must know, was a huge part of Richie Hawtin’s M_nus set up until very recently, when along with Troy Pierce & Marc Houle, left to set up their own imprint, Items & Things. There’s only been a handful of releases & already Items & Things is leading the way with forward thinking, electronic dance music with every single release being absolutely top notch.
Magda has been of fire since the guys have branched off from M_nus really blossoming & showing her true self, in fact, Mr.C categorically states that Magda’s set at Nexus at Burning Man in Septemeber, was by far his favourite set of the festival. Said Mr.C, “Magda’s set at Nexus was off the chain. It was techno but not that fast, with lots of crazy spaced out sounds, bleeps & tones, yet the beats were funky as hell & all the tunes had proper bass lines that we so infectious, that it was impossible not to dance like a lunatic”.
Magda is extremely excited about joining us for our 10th anniversary, so for sure this will be a set not to be missed.

Next we welcome back Superfreq’s 1st ladies of the night, the delectable, Dollz At Play. Xo Chic will be jetting across the pond from Los Angeles to celebrate not only Superfreq’s 10th Anniversary, but also her birthday, which falls only a few weeks before, so this is the perfect time for her to celebrate with our London Superfreq family. Xo Chic has been busy spinning in Mexico & California, doing all sorts of events from Superfreq to high fashion events & everything in between.
Of course Xo Chic will be joined by Bea Tricks who’s also been busy & has just moved back to England, which was why we were lucky enough to have her Play at Superfreq’s official after party at Jaded, after the Fabric show on the morning of January 15th. Bea Tricks is on best form right now, having had a recent release with My Favourite Robot & has also done an amazing track with the extremely talented Black Light Smoke aka Jordan Lieb, who was simply amazing when he performed live for us at Fabric, a set which included Bea’s track.

Of course all of these wonderfully gorgeous ladies join Mr.C & Luke vB for what promises to be a fun filled night of complete foolishness.

Tickets are available now right here on Resident Advisor.
As this is our 10th anniversary, so to avoid disappointment, we do stress that you be quick in purchasing your tickets, as concessions lists will be pretty much non-existent & people will be keen to snap tickets up to ensure entry.

We look forward to celebrating both Superfreq being 10 & Xo Chic’s birthday with you all on the 3rd of March. Until then, be well & keep spreading the magic.

    Love from the Superfreq family.

    Mooch introduces…

WOW! Mooch certainly celebrated its 3rd birthday in style one of our biggest turn outs to date! Massive thanks to you lovely lot who managed to shake off the post NYE blues and party with us in our fantastic east London home Basing House. The icing on the cake came in the form of Tim Xavier who, after just managing to catch his flight to London straight from Panorama Bar laid four to the floor with absolute brilliance we hope that you all agree. Our next party comes to you in March, after searching high and low for an underground artist that would follow on from the birthday bash, someone who could comfortably fill Tim’s shoes when it comes to diversity of sounds, hip shaking grooves and dark basslines to boot. We introduce Switzerland’s finest techno export…

    Dachshund [Highgrade]

Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland Dachshund got his first introduction to music in the 90’s playing guitar in Reggae bands. His collaboration with The Restless Mashaits lead him to Downtown Kingston Jamaica in 1995, where he mixed instrumentals recorded in Switzerland on 2 inch tapes with Jamaican musicians recorded onsite. Dub is undoubtedly Dachshund’s first musical influence and inspiration. With his roots in Dub music, Dachshund first experimented with electronic music in 1997, producing his own jungle and Drum’n’Bass tracks. This new orientation got him involved in DJing and organizing the first Drum’n’Bass parties in his hometown. In order to play his own music during DJ sets, CDs not being available at the time, he cut his own productions onto dub plate at Music House in London. It’s through these new styles of music that Dachshund developed and refined his Dj’ing and Studio technique. You can hear Dachshund’s musical evolution in his work, his past history with Dub and other organic types of music is what gives his sets such an original flavour. Dachshund calls for a human presence behind the machine, sweat on the dance floor and the swinging of hips not head banging. It’s with this particular vision in mind that he has played live and DJ sets all over Europe. He’s no stranger to success in in the studio either, having released on a string of high profile labels including Highgrade, Vitalik, Harthouse and his own label Clapper which he runs with good friend Quenum.

On the eve resident handler Natalie Coleman will be warming up the dog pound with her signature deep grooves and rolling beats, following on to the B2B walking skills of Ed Jones and Nick Walters which is all in preparation for feeding time from Highgrade’s Dachshund which promises to be a rather meaty affair…

Huge thank you to everyone who came and packed out Corsica Studios for our second Stroboscopic Showcase in November. Both rooms were absolutely rocking. Potentially our best party yet.

Saturday March 31st sees EarToGround’s first event at well renowned London club, ‘Cable’.

As ever we are not holding back and have put together one VERY special lineup. Its a gathering of razor sharp talent from across Europe and the globe.

    Profiles:

    ???????????????????????????????

    DVS1

Over 15 years as a favorite in the US have led to DVS1 being embraced worldwide, and for good reason — his tight, vinyl-focused sets, culled from a huge record collection and a unique taste, feature a wide range of emotion and an undeniable impact on the dance floor.

Whether playing alongside Jeff Mills in Japan, regularly rocking the worldwide capital of clubbing at Berghain in Berlin, or at one of his finely-excecuted local HUSH parties, Zak brings it.

    http://www.hushsound.com/
    http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/dvs1

    ???????????????????????????????

    Cosmin TRG

There are those who imitate, and those who innovate: Romanian born, Berlin based producer Cosmin Nicolae is unquestionably the latter. At this point in time you’ll find him honing a ghostly, sketchy techno blueprint that fuses shuffling drums with eerie synths, snatched vocals-as-instruments and strains of Detroit and Chicago classicism. These analogue sounds arrive on labels like connoisseur Dutch imprint Rush Hour as well as Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons and Untold’s hotter-than-hot Hemlock, but are a stylistic mile away from the sound with which the man first emerged.

    http://www.cosmintrg.com/

    ???????????????????????????????

    Markus Suckut

    Exciting stories without big words

Markus’ own musical history began in 1999, at the brink of the new millennium an interest in electronic music was awakened in the young, Germany-based Markus. At the time it was less about committing to one musical direction, than about the excitement of DJing and testing sonic limits. Carried along by the excitement of these inital impressions Markus began to teach himself to mix and within a few short years his first productions followed.

It’s hard to categorise someone who himself detests thinking about music in narrow-minded categories and who takes influence from many different styles of music. His own productions are best described plainly and simply with the word techno, techno which often and willingly becomes dub. His sets are wide reaching, and even if they have a common basis it’s difficult to describe what exactly they have in common. Perhaps it is soul, a bit of dreaminess and a tendency towards melancholy that best characterise Markus and his music.

    http://blog.markussuckut.com/

    ???????????????????????????????

    Secluded

While underground in England these days in most people’s eyes is mainly associated with dubstep culture, one must not forget that there has long existed a great tradition also solid classic Techno – among other things, Blueprint Records, as some of the front runners on the scene way back from 90s.

It should not just be about the current front runners, but instead new talent from the British Underground: Secluded. With a sound in the same ballgame as aforesaid company and some of the deep Berlin produce, we find him with his hard on paper productions. They softened however by the sometimes dubby synth passages and deep soundscapes that put the continuous and characteristic gloomy atmosphere in the fantastic productions.
