What does it sound like?
Finishing off his series of Change releases, Hemlock’s Untold was clearly in a dark, if not bad mood when he pieced together the notably angry Kane. Think deep rooted bassline, emerging from the depths to underpin a neo-post punk arrangement that pays as much attention to its distorted wall of sound as it does the soaring string loop that finally arrives halfway through.
It’s almost industrial, almost uplifting, almost sound art, unarguably compelling and unique, as is Overdrive on the flip, which shares a similar tip. Live-sounding low ends give way to staccato, compressed breakbeats, meanwhile plucked guitars provide a feeling of preparing for a big drop. That never really comes, though that’s not the point here, marking this B-side out as something of a harsh broken techno builder, perfect for some proceeding solidness.

Kane, for all it’s cross-genre stylings.
