Bloc release first wave of confirmed acts for 2012.

Bloc resumes its position at the forefront of electronic music with the first announcements of the programme for the sixth annual Bloc festival. As we previously reported, Bloc has a new home for 2012 in the shape of the London Pleasure Gardens. Set by the water’s edge, overlooked by the monolithic post-industrial derelict buildings of Britain’s former glory, licensed until 6AM, the Pleasure Gardens will provide Bloc with a home like no other.

Bloc will take advantage of the limitless versatility of the venue. There will be totally new, purpose-built, hi-spec venues – some on land and some floating on water. The biggest and most diverse line-up Bloc has ever known will also be presented across the permanent venues that will be erected on the site – a 30m geodesic dome and the majestic Hub stage from Glastonbury. All the main stages will be covered and have walls.

We’ve been promised mind-blowing audio-visual experiences that could not have even dreamed of at the previous, smaller venues, including awe-inspiring projections and installations making use the brooding buildings that dominate the area.

Taking the spotlight as the first mouth watering headliner is the mighty Orbital  UK debut, and alongside them is an exclusive appearance of the brand new collaboration between Germany’s finest Modeselektor, Marcel Dettmann and Shed, certain to make the techno cognoscenti bunch up their faces with glee. Some long time Bloc favourites also make their festival debut – it’s the first time they’ve been privileged to have the emperor of Detroit, Jeff Mills grace the festival alongside another debut from Scuba – he’ll be smashing a much-hyped live AV show. Other gems announced include:

Orbital / Flying Lotus / Gary Numan /

Ricardo Villalobos / Squarepusher / Battles /

Jeff Mills / Doom /

ATOL = Modeselektor + Marcel Dettmann + Shed /

Carl Craig – 69 / Apparat Band / Four Tet /
