House of Fun Weekender

Now we know your thinking, Madness, that’s not in keeping with the usual daily dose of electronic music happenings we normally get from Plain and Simple, but bear with us, as this event managed to grab our attention.

Camden’s own Nutty Boys, the legendary Madness, are taking over Butlins Minehead this November, curating a sensational line-up of bands, DJs and comedians. Handpicked by the magnificent seven themselves, the House of Fun Weekender will showcase the hottest up-and-coming acts, alongside old favourites across three-days of festival fun by the sea.

What caught our eye with this one, is not the chance of seeing Madness play at Butlins (it’s hardly Bloc territory is it), but the rather the tasty line up of DJ’s and acts they have curated for support. (No offence to madness, your just not our normal musical focus).

The weekend features a plethora of fine music from the likes of Beardyman, Norman Jay, Mr Scruff, Dan Le Sac vs Sroobious pip, Doorly, The Correspondents, Rob Da Bank and Toddla T & MC Sercee. Non to shabby, add to that Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robinson and The Whip and this is shaping up to be a tasty weekender. Hats off to madness for selecting some pretty credible dance music to support the live bands, comedy, and (no really, it’s on the line up) darts.
