Guest Chart – Soul Clap

Their name has come to stand for that rather unique form of broken house, rolling garage and electro-experimentation, a sound that has taken the world’s more discerning dancefloors by storm in the last year or two. Driven by the deceptive plod of a sluggish BPM count what Charlie Levine and Eli Goldstein lack in pace they make up for by ensuring their music is wholly immersive.

Together as Soul Clap their DJ sets have become only a few inches short of legendary, taking in everything from funk infused party tracks to deep, druggy, melody capped shufflers. Meanwhile, the pair’s production work can be described as exceptionally well detailed and polished to the point of shimmering, even though their oeuvre retains enough of a rough around the edges flavour to ensure dirty basements are the best place in which to listen. With this undeniable talent for creating and selecting in mind, and ahead of their forthcoming set at Phonica Records big fat 8th birthday bash, when they will appear alongside the likes of Visionquest, Joy Orbison, and Heidi, we thought it might be interesting for the pair to run through and recommend ten of their own remixes and original tracks. Here we go then.
