Those with a keen ear/eye may have heard that Pontins – the seaside holiday park company that run the Southport venue, fell foul of the recession and went into administration earlier this month.
I think many will agree that as a holiday destination, it’s not a number one choice. However, each year thousands make their pilgrimage to Merseyside to attend the legendary Southport Weekender over three days, exclusively taking over the entire park!
The next scheduled event is on May 6/7/8th 2011 which sold out soon after the last event around the same time this year, which shows the loyalty of the followers returning each year starting new relationships among the SPW ‘Family’.
Pontins and their administrators recognise the importance of the event and have clearly stated their intention to honour all bookings for 2011 so for anyone worried, don’t be – it looks like SPW 47 will be one of the best and biggest yet!
